Gripzilla Liquid Chalk: No Mess, No Dust, Serious Grip
Why Liquid Chalk?
Liquid chalk has a better grip and creates less dust than powder or block chalk. Your climbing kit should include a bottle of liquid chalk if your hands sweat or if you climb in hot weather.
- Great for drying your skin and improving your grip
- Fast-drying
- There are two sizes available
- Compact in size
- Includes a carabiner
This is a great option for rock climbing, and is very popular with weightlifters. An easy-to-use bottle that provides great coverage and performance.
We found it hard to pick just one liquid chalk to stand out from the others, but Gripzilla Liquid Chalk performance makes it the clear choice.
You will only need a small amount of this liquid for a full session unless your fingers are particularly sweaty. Hands are coated with a white coating after 10 seconds.
Getting a better grip is aided by its ability to dry your hands. Unlike chalk that leaves a lot of residue, it doesn't affect ropes.
That said, you may find it dries your skin out too much, causing it to crack and split. It may be better for you to look at the Gripzilla Liquid Chalk Combo Kit
The Gripzilla Liquid Chalk Combo Kit comes with the 250ml + 50ml refill bottle which is better value.
This is the best of both worlds due to its 50ml handy size, which is convenient for stashing in your climbing pack's top pocket. Additionally, the harness is equipped with a carabiner for attaching the arm to.
This chalk makes your hands white, unlike other liquid chalks that you can barely see after use.
This product has a thick consistency that makes it easy to cover up and won't cause you to sweat. The first time you apply chalk to the board will be the perfect time to use this method.
Those who have been to a gym have probably seen the chalk dust cloud and mess on the floor. As time goes on, traditional block chalks become noxious, messy, and expensive. In sports, training and competitions, liquid chalk is a welcome alternative to traditional chalk. The Gripzilla Liquid chalk is applied before the training session or competition begins or at the resting point. The Liquid Chalk from Gripzilla is designed to stay on your hands during the workout therefore allowing you to spend less time reapplication, use less chalk in the workout, and focus on performance and sporting goals.
Our Liquid Chalk is the same high quality gymnastics chalk (magnesium carbonate) you now use it in your gym — only better.

Our evaluation of the chalk was conducted in CrossFit gyms that had Olympic weightlifting gyms next to them as well as home gyms with heavy kettlebells. Pullups, muscle ups, cleans, jerks, and snatches were among the exercises performed by the athletes.
I have been very satisfied with the Gripzilla Liquid Chalk experience, but I found it challenging to determine how much chalk is needed per session. When working with liquid chalk, we found that the "less is more" approach worked best. Following the directions for use will make the chalk work, your hands will be drier, and your grip will be enhanced. An athlete noted a faster workout time when doing a timed pull-up workout that required grip and speed. We found that many athletes were able to save time by using the liquid chalk. A long cycle heavy Kettlebell Sport workout was our favorite use for the chalk. I did not have any problems with the chalk holding up to the training session.
Pros:
- You can use it for various sports and fitness applications, such as kettlebell sport, rock climbing, weightlifting, CrossFit, and gymnastics
- Safe Ingredients: 80-90% pure magnesium carbonate - no fillers, no binders, no drying agents
- Long lasting formula: lasts longer than block style chalk
- No dust, no mess
Cons:
- It's not cheap
Editor’s Notes:
You must shake Gripzilla Liquid Chalk well each time you apply. It is important to wave your hands for approximately 30 seconds after applying liquid chalk. Your hands will become covered in a thin layer of chalk after the liquid has dried. You should not use chalk during a workout or competition with a time component, but rather apply it before the workout. All in all, we recommend this chalk to anyone who needs grip and is looking for a convenient and mess-free option.

“As a coach and gym owner, chalk is ALWAYS an issue…from the kids wasting time chalking up to the dust making a mess around the gym. Liquid Chalk solves both of these issues and works extremely well for the kids. I love this product. I would recommend Liquid Chalk to every gym owner and gymnast.”

“My gym spends about $450/month in air filters because of chalk dust. Keeping our facility clean is a never ending battle. Liquid Chalk has saved us thousands of dollars/year in filters and cleaning costs. But more importantly, it works extremely well for the gymnast. More of them are preferring it over regular chalk.”
